Tikar Shield - Manilla with Cowrie Centre and Trim
Traditionally these shields were used as defensive weapons and also as decorative or ritual objects, which in Cameroon symbolise status and wealth. Hand carved from one piece of wood and decorated by large groups of locals making up the Tikar Tribe makes each shield a unique piece. The shields are adorned with a combination of cowrie shells and manilla string.
These artisan pieces are without a doubt wildly interesting and are popular amongst interior designers. Each Tikar shield is crafted individually making them unique and a one of a kind piece. A unique collectors piece, our Bamileke shields look striking on a console table, shelf or a cabinet.
Dimensions: approx: 30cm diameter, 47cm H. Stand included.
