How to care for you Bamileke Feather Juju Hat

Australia has very strict importation laws when it comes to biosecurity risks from entering Australia. Our Bamileke Feather Juju Hats are imported into Australia along with a certificate of fumigation. This means they are treated against any introduction of unwanted pests.

Feathers are a natural material and moths can become attracted to them. Care and moth prevention is required with feathers. To protect your Juju hat we recommend spraying the feathers periodically with an insect spray to prevent moths becoming attracted to them. Additionally you can hang a 'Hovex Camphor Moth Repellent' at the back of the hat once its hung as a preventative measure. These should be replaced every 3-4 months or when the repellent pod has become empty. After all, prevention is better than a cure.

If you are planning on storing your Juju Hat for a period of time, we recommend storing folded up (as it arrived to you) in a sealed plastic storage container with a lid, along with a moth repellent in the container.
